Columbia Falls Montana is a great place for an extended stay.
On a recommendation from a swim friend I checked in to the Columbia Falls RV park. This provides a good central location as Glacier National Park is a mere 12 miles up the road and there are a number of other activities and places to explore in the area. The campground is well laid out and supplies all of the needed amenities as well as a very friendly and helpful owner that runs the office.
First stop after arrival was the visitor center at Glacier NP to secure hiking and park maps (this is my first time visiting Glacier).
A quick hike around the John’s Lake loop was a good introduction to the park. Surprising how busy the park is even in what used to be known as the “shoulder season”. Parking lots were full, visitor centers packed and lots of cars on the road.
As I am in the area for a few weeks I will definitely be back for extended hikes and tours in the park. For now, just a taste of the park wetted my appitite for more time in this beautiful park.
As a bonus Mattia & Sherri (old friends of the family) also live in Columbia Falls and are excited to show off their beautiful location.
What better place to meet than the local brewery in Columbia Falls!
The weather looked great for the day so what better place to be than out on the water. Whitefish Lake State Park was a good place for Cory and I to launch the stand up paddle board. The water here is clear as any I have seen and there was only one boat out on the lake so basically had the place to ourselves to enjoy the sun and the scenery.
Cory is a good waterdog and just settles in and enjoys the ride!
Wrapped up the day with a walk to the local highly recommended meat market and then down to the community farmers market.
And while I don’t usually photograph my food, this one was just too good to pass up!
So happy you met up with our old friends!
